Terms & Conditions
1. Foundational Values
We proactively commit to working through the lens of:
· Equity, Not Equality: Recognize that fair outcomes require addressing systemic barriers and providing different supports based on need.
· Active Anti-Racism: Commit to identifying and challenging racist norms within our practice and this space. This requires moving beyond passive tolerance.
· Post-Colonial Awareness: Ensure that discussions reflect an awareness of power dynamics, historical injustice, and the impact of colonization, particularly on First Nations voices and knowledge systems.
2. Responsible Feedback Protocol
We engage in responsible, empathetic, and safe critique for growth.
· Focus on the Work: Feedback must critique the practice or idea, not the person. Be direct, actionable, and based on evidence.
· Safe Delivery: Deliver feedback in the safest context appropriate (e.g., privately vs. public thread).
· Empathy in Receiving: Listen to understand the observation, assume positive intent, and thank the giver for their critique.
3. Power-Aware Dialogue
We commit to asking questions that challenge assumptions and reflect a social responsibility to ensure all voices are heard equally. Frame your questions to acknowledge power imbalances and allow for diverse, non-dominant perspectives.
4. Non-Extractive Sharing
This community operates on professional reciprocity, not intellectual consumption:
· Commit to Contribution: If you use a resource, try to giving back by sharing your own proven resources or critical reflections.
· Attribution & Consent: Always credit the source for external ideas. Do not use shared community materials for commercial gain outside of your existing practice without the creator’s explicit consent.
